Beta Service Notice
Focus Room is currently in beta and operated as a side project. While we strive to provide reliable service, we cannot guarantee 100% uptime or immediate support. Use in production environments is at your own risk.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Focus Room, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.
These terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Focus Room. Key requirements:

2. Description of Service
Focus Room is a productivity tool that enables hosts to create virtual monitoring sessions where participant browsing can be limited to approved websites during focus sessions.

- Real-time browsing monitoring during sessions
- Session reports and analytics
- Chrome extension for participants
What Focus Room Does NOT Provide
- Permanent browsing surveillance
- Guaranteed prevention of all bypassing
- Screen recording or keylogging
- Content filtering outside of sessions
- Legal compliance guarantees
Service Tiers
Focus Room is available in two tiers:
Starter (Free)
- • 1 active session at a time
- • Up to 15 participants per session
- • 1-hour session limit
- • 7-day data retention
- • Basic session reports
Professional (Paid)
- • Unlimited sessions
- • Up to 100 participants
- • Unlimited session duration
- • Unlimited data retention

3. User Accounts
Host Accounts
- •Hosts must provide accurate information during registration
- •You are responsible for maintaining account security
- •You must not share your account credentials
- •You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
Participant Access
- •Participants do not need accounts to join sessions
- •Participants enter their name when joining sessions
- •Hosts are responsible for participant identification accuracy
4. Billing and Payments
Subscription Plans
Focus Room offers two plans:
- •Starter (Free): Limited features with usage restrictions
- •Professional (Paid): Full features with unlimited usage
Payment Terms
- •Professional plan is billed monthly (current checkout price/month) or annually (current checkout price/year). Existing subscriptions keep their contracted terms unless changed by agreement.
- •Payment is due at the start of each billing period
- •We accept credit cards and other payment methods via our payment processor
- •You authorize us to charge your payment method automatically each billing cycle
- •You are responsible for keeping your payment information current
Automatic Renewal
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged at the then-current rate unless we notify you of a price change in advance.
Failed Payments
- •If payment fails, we will attempt to charge your payment method again
- •If payment fails repeatedly, your account may be downgraded to the free plan
- •You remain responsible for any outstanding charges
Refund Policy
Due to the nature of the service and our side-project status:
- •All payments are non-refundable except as required by law
- •No refunds or credits for partial months or unused service
- •If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your current billing period
- •Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change our pricing. If we change the price for your subscription, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance via email. Price changes will take effect at your next billing cycle. Continued use after the price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
Taxes
Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for paying all taxes associated with your subscription. We may charge and collect taxes where required by law.
Free Users: The free plan will always remain available. We will not force free users to upgrade, though free plan features may change with notice.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Focus Room only for lawful productivity purposes.
Permitted Uses
- Monitoring participant focus during session time
- Creating whitelists for approved websites
- Generating reports for productivity assessment
- Managing multiple sessions
Prohibited Uses
- Monitoring participants outside of authorized session time
- Using the service for unauthorized surveillance
- Attempting to bypass security measures
- Sharing participant data inappropriately
- Using the service to discriminate or harass
- Violating participant privacy rights
- Attempting to reverse engineer the software
Warning: Violation of acceptable use policies may result in immediate account termination without refund.
6. Host Responsibilities
As a host using Focus Room, you accept the following responsibilities:

- •Inform participants that monitoring is taking place
- •Use monitoring data only for legitimate productivity purposes
- •Maintain confidentiality of participant information

- •Respond to participant questions about the service
- •Delete data when no longer needed

7. Participant Guidelines
Participant involvement in Focus Room sessions is subject to the following:
- •Participation should be voluntary or with appropriate consent
- •Participants must install the Chrome extension to join sessions
- •Participants can see which websites are allowed before joining
- •Participants can leave sessions at any time
- •Monitoring only occurs during active sessions
- •Participants can request data deletion at any time
Honor System
Focus Room operates on an honor system. While we monitor and report violations, participants can technically bypass the system by using other browsers or devices. This tool is designed for cooperative focus settings, not high-security environments.
8. Intellectual Property
Our Rights
- •Focus Room and all related materials are owned by us
- •Our trademarks, logos, and branding are protected
- •You may not copy, modify, or distribute our software
- •You may not remove copyright notices
Your Rights
- •You retain ownership of any data you input
- •Session reports and configurations you create belong to you
- •You grant us license to process your data to provide the service
9. Limitation of Liability
Important Legal Notice: Please read this section carefully.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- •Focus Room is provided "as-is" without warranties
- •We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- •We are not responsible for participants bypassing the system
- •We are not liable for decisions made based on monitoring data
- •We do not guarantee 100% uptime or availability
- •Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid (if any)
Paid Subscriptions: For paid Professional subscribers, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. For free users, we provide the service without any financial liability. This limitation applies regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise.
Focus Room is a focus tool, not a security system. We do not guarantee that participants cannot bypass monitoring. Organizations are responsible for their own compliance with applicable laws.
Side Project Acknowledgment: You acknowledge that Focus Room is operated as a side project with limited resources. We provide the service on a best-effort basis and make no guarantees about service availability, data integrity, or feature continuity. Critical functions should not rely solely on Focus Room.
10. Service Availability
We strive to provide reliable service, but:
- •We do not guarantee uninterrupted service
- •We may perform maintenance that causes temporary downtime
- •We will notify users of planned maintenance when possible
- •We are not liable for service interruptions
- •We may modify or discontinue features with notice
Service Level
We do not provide Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for any plan, including paid subscriptions:
- •Both free and paid users receive the same uptime and availability
- •Paid users receive priority support but no uptime guarantees
- •Service interruptions do not entitle users to refunds or credits
Note: As a side project, Focus Room may experience extended downtime for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues. We recommend having backup plans for critical activities.
11. Termination
Your Right to Cancel
You may cancel your account or subscription at any time:
- •Free accounts can be closed immediately through account settings or by contacting support
- •Paid subscriptions can be cancelled through the billing page or by contacting support
- •If you cancel a paid subscription, you retain access until the end of your current billing period
- •After cancellation, your account will revert to the free plan unless you request full deletion
- •Data will be deleted according to our retention policy when you delete your account
- •No refunds or credits are provided for partial billing periods
Our Right to Terminate
- •We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
- •We may terminate the service with 14 days notice, or immediately in case of technical or legal issues
- •We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time:
